CIL 2009 Keynote

Well I am sitting here listening to Lee Ranie doing the opening Keynote for Computers in Libraries 2009.  He can be very fast speaker, but full of useful of information if you can keep up.  He open up with a funny story about someone at a different conference telling him if he wants to get out of the Library business he could get a job reading disclaimers for drug commercials.  Love how he said Blogging was sooo 2005 and now days everything is about tweeting these days.  He actually did a search on who was tweeting right now about his speech. It was pretty funny that about 3 or 4 tweets from the top, says “Does Lee always open up with the fast speaking story.”  Apparently Lee uses that one a lot. Oh well it was pretty funny and the crowed seemed to like it.  He showed how someone at a different conference tweeted and said, “Lee was a lot older then they thought he was, and seemed like a typical suit.”  Well Lee if you are reading this you seem about the right age, and didn’t seem like a typical suit to me.  Then again, before todays keynote I don’t think I have ever seen you in person and I actually thought you were a girl before. Sorry Lee I stand corrected!

On another note, I attended CIL last year.  There is a noticeable drop in attendance this year. Dang economy strikes again!   Also I was hoping to upload a few pictures everyday to our Flickr account but I forget to bring my stupid memory card reader!  So I will get them uploaded on Friday when I am back in the office.
